Natural soap, rather pure natural soaps produced by the cold process method, also contains a high content of glycerine, which is a humactant, attracting moisture to the skin. An interesting note regarding pure natural soaps; in natural soaps we don't need to add extra glycerine to our pure soaps, because the high content of glycerine is a by-product of making pure natural soaps.

Our natural soaps are made with all vegetable oils, no animal fats. This is my preference when I make my handmade soap because it seems to make a purer, cleaner smelling soap. In my experience as an RN on a dermatology floor I know that vegetable oils were therapeutic to our patients with skin problems. Therefore, I use olive oil in my handmade soaps, which although expensive, is renown for its skin conditioning benefits. Canola oil is also conditioning to the skin and canola is grown here on the Palouse, so it is also an ingredient in my handmade soap. For a bar of handcrafted soap to have a nice fluffy lather, coconut oil is indispensable and this is added in an ideal percentage for skin care and lathering benefits. Castor oil adds a very special fluffy and stable lather to soap and it is a major ingredient in our shampoo bars. No one likes shampoo bars that are soft and melt quickly in the shower, so I add palm oil to my handcrafted soap to make a nice hard bar. In addition to these basic oils, I add shea butter and jojoba oil, both awesome skin care products which moisturize, heal and reduce inflammation. I have several specialty handcrafted soap bars with neem oil in them, which makes pure natural soaps that treat eczema & psoriasis, as well as acts as a deterrent to acne.
